Sliding Screen Doors
Sliding screen doors is considered as an indispensable part of any home in almost all households worldwide. This is because they serve as a protection from flying insects that can bring disease and ensure the safety of the people living inside the house.
Technically, a sliding screen door refers to a hinged door that covers a home’s exterior door or used as a divider from the patio area. It is made of steel frames and panels as well as neatly woven screen mesh used to keep insects in getting insider the house.
Sliding screen doors can be constructed using two methods. The first method involves the use of a roll form from a thin sheet of aluminum and turned into a door with rectangle frame. This type is called “rollformed” sliding door because it can include the screen channel to enable the window screen to hold the material. This kind of sliding screen door is cheaper because they can easily be manufactured using thin aluminum sheets.
However, this type is not known to stand the test of time because its natural construction is generally weak. If you are looking for sliding screen doors that will last for a long period of time, don’t consider rollformed sliding screen door because it can be easily worn out once it is opened of closed. The hard part is that once one area is loosened, it will be stuck and jam the other areas and cannot be repaired.
The other type is called “extruded” sliding door because it is made from extruded aluminum shapes. This type is made from aluminum sheets that are thicker compared to the other kind. Since they are made form thicker and high quality aluminum, this type of doors are far more expensive compared to the other type. Unlike the rollformed type that are attached to the window screen, this type of sliding screen door can be joined and mitered using aluminum alloy in its corners and can be screwed in to ensure durability and stability.
If you want longer lasting sliding screen doors, it is wise to opt for extruded aluminum screen doors because they can be easily repaired unlike the rollformed type that cannot be repaired at all.
